Hey, it’s Que.D, and I’m excited to announce the limited edition 12″ release of my Quite Delicious EP, now available on vinyl for the first time ever. Originally released only on cassette in 1997, and then partially on Fat Beats Records in 2000, the EP was never released in its entirety on 12″ until now.
This project holds a very special place in my heart, as it captures a time and energy that I will always cherish. I’m fulfilling a lifelong dream of mine and Jay Dee’s to have the world absorb this project the way we intended it to be.
The album was actually written using the first beats T3 ever made while being taught by Jay Dee to produce. After receiving the beats, I locked myself in my room with my boombox for a few days and wrote all six songs. T3 and I then recorded the tracks in Jay Dee’s basement whenever he finished working on his own beats for the day. Eventually, Jay Dee took on the role of producer for the album, bringing his unique style and vision to the project.
During the making of the album, Waajeed, our photographer and producer at the time, heard the tracks and suggested to Jay Dee that we take the project to the next level by having him produce the entire EP. Jay Dee eagerly agreed, but the recording process proved to be a challenge. At first, I was confused by Jay Dee’s unconventional approach, as he recorded all the vocals to the click of the drum machine and tailored each beat to fit my voice and lyrics. Looking back, it may have been an odd way to make an album, but the end result was well worth it. Jay Dee’s unique style and meticulous attention to detail brought the project to life, and I am forever grateful to him for that.
After a few weeks, Jay Dee had finished his masterpiece, and we rode around the city of Detroit listening to the whole EP, on repeat, completely mind blown. That moment marked the beginning of my career in 1997.
I hope my fans will love this limited-edition release of Quite Delicious as much as I do. It’s a testament to the hard work, creativity, and collaboration that went into making this EP, and it’s finally available on vinyl for everyone to enjoy.
